The IRS’s Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) requires many taxpayers to make all of their Federal tax deposits electronically, via telephone or computer, and not through their banks as in the past.
If you are a mandated EFTPS filer and you do not file electronically – even if you deposit you taxes on time – you will be subject to stiff IRS penalties.
